Hello, amazing community! 👋 As Halloween approaches, costume parties and candy bowls will be popping up everywhere.  
It’s oh-so-tempting to sneak a few treats, especially if you have the dreaded bowl of candy bars staring you down as you open the door for trick-or-treaters.   🍬🍫
Check out these fun and delicious ways you can still indulge in the Halloween spirit while keeping your commitment to good health! 🧡🍂

🍬 Healthy Halloween Swaps:
Carve out the sugary treats and opt for dark chocolate (85%+ cacao) or homemade energy bites using nuts and seeds. 🥥🍫
Whip up a veggie platter so you are ready with a quick option if the urge to snack creeps in 🥕🥦
Instead of seed-oil based party dips, try homemade guacamole or salsa fresca with cassava chips 🥑🍅

Fun, seasonal recipes to help you stay healthy this Halloween!

​🎃 Blackberry Lime Fizz Mocktail 🖤

🖤 Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup fresh blackberries (or frozen)
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1-2 drops liquid stevia or monk fruit (optional, to taste)
  • 1 cup sparkling water (unsweetened)
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves or a slice of lime for garnish
🖤 Instructions:
In a blender, blend the blackberries and lime juice until smooth.
Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove the seeds (optional if you like texture).
Add a few drops of stevia or monk fruit to sweeten, if desired.
Fill a glass with ice, pour in the blackberry mixture, and top with sparkling water.
Stir and garnish with mint leaves or a lime slice for an extra spooky look!
This refreshing mocktail has a burst of tart and sweet flavors, perfect for Halloween without any sugary tricks! 🖤✨

​✨ Paleo Twix Bars 🍫🖤✨
Ingredients:
  • Shortbread Layer:
  • 1/2 cup coconut flour 
  • 1/2 cup almond flour 
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil, melted 
  • 3 tbsp Grade A Maple syrup (warmed) 

Caramel Layer:
  • 1/2 cup almond butter (or any nut/seed butter) 
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil 
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract 
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup 
  • Pinch of sea salt

​Chocolate Layer:
  • 1 dark chocolate bar or 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips 
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil 
  • 1/4 tsp flaky sea salt 
Instructions:
Shortbread Layer:

Preheat oven to 350°F. 
In a large bowl, combine coconut flour, almond flour, melted coconut oil, and warmed Grade A maple syrup. Stir until fully combined. 🥄
Line a 6x6 baking dish with parchment paper, then press the shortbread mixture into the base with a silicone spatula. 
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Let it cool completely before adding the next layer. 

Caramel Layer:
In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt together almond butter, coconut oil, vanilla, maple syrup, and a pinch of sea salt. Whisk until fully combined and smooth, about 2-3 minutes. 
Let the caramel cool completely. 
Chocolate Layer:
Break the dark chocolate into pieces and melt with coconut oil 
Stir until smooth. 👌

​Assemble the Twix Bars:
Once the shortbread and caramel have cooled, pour the caramel over the shortbread layer and freeze for 1-2 hours until fully hardened.
Remove from the freezer and pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
Set in the fridge for 5-10 minutes to harden the chocolate. 
Use the parchment paper to lift the bars from the dish and place on a cutting board. Slice into strips, then into smaller pieces to form the bars. 🔪
Enjoy! Store in the fridge or freezer in an airtight container. 🍫🖤✨
